The personal and professional converge for DCI Dan Sommerdahl; his estranged wife, pathologist Marianne; and his best pal and partner, Detective Flemming Torp. As the trio investigate murders in their seaside Danish town, Dan asks for a divorce despite still being in love with Marianne, who wants to rediscover herself—which is complicated when Flemming, needing a place to stay, moves in with her.
